The most important thing when establishing classroom routines and procedures it to be consistent. This has to start at the beginning of the school year. The teacher has to do the same process every morning and for every subjects. After a week or so of consistent produces are following the same routine the student will watch on. They will learn what is expected of them for each class period or subject.
The teacher also has to review the routines and produces with the students. The teacher has to explain step by step what the students have to do . The teacher should do this the first couple days of school. That way an uncertainties or questions from the students can be cleared up immediately. The teacher also has to review procedure periodically so the student know the teacher will not forget about them. Also this serves as a reminded to the students in case they forget or a new student enters the classroom.
The teacher needs to hold the same expectations for all students. If one student is allowed to deviated from a routine or procedure other student will pick up on this immediately. The teacher must treat all students the same and expect the same thing from them in order for a procedure to work.
